Symantec Backup Exec 11d, dynamic IP, DDNS service through dyndns.org.
=======================
Got my weekly report from the Server Management app and saw that this
service isn't running. Tried several times to restart it and kept getting
this error: "Wiindows could not start DSM SA Data Manager on Local Computer.
For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a
non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to
service-specific error code 261."
Went to the logs and found Event ID 7024 for Source: Service Contral
Manager. I clicked on the link and the action I was to take is:
To display the service-specific error code in the Service_Exit_Code
field, at the command line, type
sc query service name
The information displayed might help you troubleshoot why the error
occurred.

My problem is that I can't seem to give it either the right service name or
in the format it wants it in - keep getting errors. Can someone point me in
the right direction?

I don't know if BE could be involved in this or not. I've had instances
where Arcserve backup grabs a port that is needed by Open Manage, causing OM
services to start then immediately shut down. Arcserve has a batch file
that shuts down every part of their app. Running that, starting OM, then
restarting the Arcserve services causes Arcserve to grab a different port
and everything works.

Another thought would be to just call Dell support - they have a special
help desk for Open Manage.
