Hi Everyone,
I am Running SBS2008 w' Exchange 2007.
I removed two users from my server and I should not had done that. I was
cleaning out old employees from the server...when two were removed accidently
by me.
To remove them, I went through the wizard located in SBS console. I also
chose to remove their mailboxes and files.
I now need to retrieve those two mailboxes, or just their emails. Luckily,
I did do a back using Acronis TrueImage, i was also able to find the edb from
that backup.
I am not sure how to approach this matter...
We have come to the conclusion that they only had a username and password
for email purposes(we use pop connector), no files were stored, nor sharddocs
etc...the clients use outlook exchange.
I recreated their account on the server, re-issued them their email accounts
as well, so they can continue receiving email. But their outlook is empty,
evidently because i deleted their mailbox.
I tried restoring from autoarchive, kinda worked but it was a 6 month old
archive.
I have a backup of the edb, and i dont know what to do with it. My desired
options are:
-Extract the 2 mailboxes from the edb only, and replace their current one
with these two.
or
-Extract their mailboxes as pst, and import them to exchange via an Outlook
client.
At the very least i need to obtain only the email messages somehow and
restore them.
It sounds like a fairly easy task to do. However i am proven wrong, most
likely due to my inexperience. I have used exmerge in the past with SBS2003,
worked like a charm, but it doesnt work with SBS2008. (i get a missing "dapi"
sort of error trying to run it on SBS2008).
I have read about expensive 3rd party software that does the trick, and i
have also read about mounting and dismounting using RSG.
I am hesitant in performing the RSG method, although i tried and reached up
to the point were i created the RSG, via wizard...not shell/cmd. But was
unsure how to proceed so i halted before any further damage is done.
There MUST be an easier way, am i missing something? Can someone please help
me?
Thank you,
Chris
