RDP not working if 2003 SP2 installed

Hi All,

I have had networking issues with SP2 on SBS 03 machines before, but they
have been relativley easy to resolve by changing RSS, Chimney etc.

This box I've just been assigned to fix is giving a bit of grief. I've
uninstalled, reinstalled, reinstalled... SP2 several times. Without SP2 the
RDP runs like a charm, checking the listening port using "netstat -aon | find
":3389" I can see the listening tcp port 3389 no problem, but as soon as you
put the SP2 back in the ts listening port disappears. I've installed BPA,
and applied every other patch you could think of. I've also gone through,
resolving networking issues problem support article from Microsoft (no joy).
I've also checked all registry settings for TS and it's the port 3389
supposed to be listening even after the SP2 is installed.

The only odd thing that happens is, when you start installing the SP2 it
says that you have some protected system files that it needs to replace and
you are recommended to click on the yes button, i don't recall seeing this
before.

By the way all required SBS SP1, share point, etc, have been applied.
Any help to resolve this problem is very much appreciated.

You may have to call CSS on this. I had a situation where some TS
driver got mangled during the install of SP2

TS does not work after upgrading from SBS 2003 SP1 to SP2 | keyongtech:
http://www.keyongtech.com/4209673-ts-does-not-work-after

Since you cannot RDP SBS from itself, and the SBS LAN NIC does not
listening 3389 port. This will be a SBS RDP service issue. Let's focus on
the SBS computer configuration.

1. Copy the "termdd.sys" file from the Service Pack 2 cab folder located in
"%WINDOWS%\Driver Cache\i386" to the "%windows%\system32\drivers".

2. Please ensure Terminal Services on SBS is started. If it stop, please
start it manually.

3. Restart SBS.

See if that does the trick

CEICW runs fine with no errors, I am going to try what Susan has suggested,
hopefully it may fix the problem. Thank you.
